Create a market economy in your classroom using a set of custom-made game cards. Your students will live in a country like the U.S. where they’ll be entrepreneurs, home owners, workers, bankers and the government. This hands-on, lively, interactive game introduces nearly every economics standard (both state and national) in a concrete way and provides many “teachable moments.”
The game has four main components: People (everyone in the game), Time (the Calendar/Gameboard is a year of time with each square being one week), Game Cards (buying and selling them creates the “economy of the game”) and Units of Satisfaction (UoS). Buy can’t buy happiness, but you can get UoS in a variety of ways. Here are some of the activities:
Buying a house
Running/working for a business
Making investments
Paying taxes
Making laws
Participating in international trade
The kit includes the game cards and money, and a binder with a teacher’s guide, student instructions, forms and much more.
